Simlab Plugin for SolidEdge, enables the
user to create 3D PDF files from inside SolidEdge.
3D PDF files can be opened using a free version of Adobe Acrobat
reader, which is virtually available on every machine.
Sharing 3D models as 3D PDF files, enables the designer to
communicate 3D models with technical and none technical users,
without risking the original model, and without requesting the file
recipient to download an external application.

Great Features in Simlab Plugin for SolidEdge
Great visual appearance of 3D models.
With Simlab Plugin for SolidEdge the user has control over the model's material. Adding a reflection map or a bump map to a model will give it a more realistic\beautiful appearance, as shown in the image below.

Exporting the texture map of a 3D model, into the generated 3D PDF file is a great advantage.
Simlab Plugin for SolidEdge is also capable of handling lights.
Background images can be added to 3D models, as the sky image shown below. Music can also be added to the generated 3D PDF file.
Better communication.
In addition to exporting the 3D models to 3D PDF, the user is able to add a header and a footer to the 3D PDF file. The 3D PDF file can also be prepended to an existing PDF file, that can have a company logo for example. A password can be added to the 3D PDF file for protection.
The user can also create different cameras in the scene, and export these cameras to the PDF file.
Creating a cross section for a model.
This great feature in Simlab Plugin for SolidEdge can be used to show the file recipient hidden parts or sides of a model.

Show multiple configurations of a model.
By transferring the model to SimLab Composer, scene states showing different configurations of a model can be created.
3D PDF Animation .
By transfeting the model to SimLab Composer, the user will be able to create animations, that can be exported to the generated 3D PDF files.
Supported platforms
The plug-in is supported on SolidEdge ST2, ST3, and ST4, (32 and 64 bit). The file recipient will need a free version of Acrobat reader 9.0 or later on Windows or Mac to open the 3D PDF file
How to use the plugin
IInstalling the plugin adds a new Add-ins / SimLab toolbar to SolidEdge.

3D PDF settings can be controled by clicking the corresponding button within the new SimLab toolbar.

Requesting a trial license
After installing the plugin, start SolidEdge
and click the button Export within the new
SimLab toolbar.
If the plugin was not registered this will open the license dialog.
Click request trial license. Make sure license type is trial,
and fill the needed information, then click Auto Request.
The license will be automatically generated and sent to you by email
When receiving the license, start SolidEdge and click the
Export button in the
SimLab toolbar
then activate license and select the license file
you received
