Objects Menu

The Objects Menu addon is a powerful automation tool that creates fully functional, interactive 3D menus for objects in VR. Instead of manually building UI panels, you simply define the content and style, and SimLab Composer generates the interactive menu logic for you.

Step 1: Object Selection & Activation

  1. Add Objects: Select an object in your scene and click the Plus (+) button in the left-hand list.

  2. Activation Mode: Use the dropdown at the top to choose how the menu appears in VR:

    • Trigger: The menu appears when the user clicks the object.

    • Hover: The menu appears simply by looking at or pointing toward the object.

Step 2: Creating Menu Tabs

You can organize your menu into different tabs. Click the Add (+) icon next to the tab section to choose from three types:

1. Scene States Tab

  • Menu Button Style: Choose an icon or a custom image to represent the tab.

  • Inner Button Style: Choose how the individual states appear (Numbers, original Thumbnail Images, or Custom Images).

  • Adding Content: Simply drag and drop Scene States from the bottom panel of SimLab Composer into the designated field.

2. Animation Sequences Tab

  • Identical to the Scene States tab, but you drag and drop Animation Sequences from your library. This allows users to trigger specific object animations directly from the menu.

3. Training Builder Actions Tab

This tab is for custom logic. Each "Action" you create is assigned a Training Builder ID.

  • Manual Setup: Use events like Dynamic Menu Item Triggered (Node + ID) to trigger responses. Note that IDs are unique to each object (e.g., "Chair 1" can have an "Action 1" that is different from "Table 1's" "Action 1").

  • Native Setup (Shortcut): Click the Training Builder Icon next to the Action ID. SimLab will automatically open the Training Builder, create the correct event, attach the object, and fill in the ID for you.

Step 3: Visual Customization (Settings)

Click the Settings button at the top left to define the look of your menu:

  • Menu Button Border: Choose between a Sharp Square, Rounded Corner Square, or a Circle.

  • Color Palette: * Primary Color: Affects icons and numbers.

    • Border Color: Controls the stroke/outline of all items.

    • Background Color: Sets the color for the menu tiles.

Step 4: Applying Changes

Once your menu is configured, click Apply. When closing the dialogue, the system will ask if you want to save your configuration. Ensure you save to keep your menu settings active for the VR experience.

Summary Table: Menu Types
