Functions provided by SimLab Composer \ Modo integration

Import 3D models

Modo users will be able to import all file formats supported by SimLab Composer directly to Modo. This includes SketchUp (8 and prior), STEP, IGES, ACIS, Inventor, SolidEdge, 3D PDF, 3D XML, U3D, OSG, and STL

Export 3D models

Modo users will be able to export their models as 3D PDF, SketchUp, U3D,  3DS, OSG, and STL.

Click here for a full list of supported import/ export file formats.

Export to IPad

Models can be exported directly from inside Modo as SimLab Archive files (*.zim) which can be opened by SimLab CAD Viewer on IPad, IPhone and IPod touch.

Transfer to SimLab

The user can transfer current Modo model to SimLab Composer. This will automatically open SimLab Composer in mini (plugin) mode. The user can use mini mode to assign materials from the material library, to change 3D PDF settings, and to create scene states.

This mode was designed to make SimLab Composer work simultaneously with Modo.

Rendering

SimLab Composer Rendering and Animation editions enable users to render models from inside Modo.

Rendering from inside Modo utilizes SimLab Composer retain material capability, which means it is enough to assign rendering materials once inside SimLab Composer (plugin mode). Performing a rendering from inside Modo after that will automatically update materials to high quality rendering materials, which will make working on multiple stages of the model faster and easier.
